a pair of women's tights to replace temporarily a broken fan belt and get a car moving again?.........theres a story in the mid-1970s where a woman's car broke down and she saw two policemen passing, they asked her if she needed help...after looking under the bonet one of them requested her to remove her tights( in a suitable dicreet manner) order to fix the fan belt until the car could be sent to the garage.....so has any of you used this method to fix a fan belt on a car?...........

yes,but it is a very temporary repair

I have used this on a v belt design, the trick is to tie it fairly tight keep the engine rpm's down and get a new belt ASAP, but it never hurts to keep a set of tights in the trunk, the price is right and sometimes its a long way to the auto part store

With a "V" belt maybe But with a flat belt I don't think you could keep it on the pulleys
