Ok. This may make me sound ungentlemanly, but there is one phrase that is constantly trotted out on the news media that DRIVES ME UP THE WALL.
It is during news reporting of reporting of wars, terrorist outrages and natural disasters... and you hear this.
"2000 people died, including 300 WOMEN and children".
WHY!??! I completely agree with singling out children. But women are adults, and why is the life of an adult woman worthy of more especial note in a news report than that of a man?
If they are non-combatants then it is right to report it as 300 civilians died. It is IRRELEVANT whether they were male or female.
In this age of sexual equality and equal rights it completely maddens me that this ridiculously antiquated notion is allowed to perpetuate itself without being challenged in anyway.

"Whatever?!!" drives me mental, suddenly people speak like they were born in the San Fernando Valley when they live in Wolverhampton!, or Cardiff, and even rural Cork and Galway.
" Yeah?!" speak an example would be....
" I went to get my car fixed.............yeah?" Bloke#1
" Car problems!...........yeah? Bloke#2
"So I need to borrow yours..........yeah? Bloke#1
" I'll think about it......yeah?" Bloke#2
and finally OMGI( Oh my God,innit?)

For me it's the word "nevermind" ~ while I use it myself a lot, it usually means there's something else that someone wants to say but won't. Ever curious, I try to pry that out of people, especially my friends.

"think outside the box" (AAAAAAHHH!)
"at the end of the day"
"focus on our core competencies"
"that's hot"
There are probably many more, but the first one irritates me the most because it is SO done. I will kick the next person that asks me to think outside the box.

When someone says "for all intents and purposes". There's just something about that, makes me want to punch them in the mouth.
