I thought it would pass, because the majority seems to be brainwashed to not mind porking the hated minority in the rear.

Did you know 90% of the tax money was allotted to expenses that have nothing to do with smoking? Most was earmarked as gift money for the big hospital corporations. They play on the hatred of the gullible masses for their personal gains. They thought they could get us to exploit the unpopular smoker minority lynch-mob-style because hell, I'M not the one paying these taxes, so who cares? Screw the other guy!

Thankfully, yesterday we found that Californians have at least some vestige of conscience and clear sight left, and it may take more than sugar-coated demagoguery for the corporations to swindle money out of us. But with propaganda getting slicker and sleazier every day, how long will the rejection last?

Smokers have already become the catch-all whipping boy in several other states. Such an easy, outnumbered group to exploit for profit.

I love how you guys spin it.
So what if only 10% goes to stop smoking. YOU do realize how much smoking and 2nd hand smoking affects other HEALTH problems and aspects?

100% of the money was to go to help the medical fields. That means finding ways in dealing with those who have lung cancer (due to smoking) or those affected by 2nd hand smoke (due to smokers).

Propaganda is the crap that was being spewed by the tobacco companies, who in fact, were behind the initiative to stop the proposition from being passed.

Hey, Arus Geo, I guess you didn't read the little clause in the prop that EXEMPTS HOSPITALS FROM ANTI-TRUST LAWS. HA. HAHAHA. Even Arnold and the physicians association were against this baloney piece of hogwash

yeah, they hide that juicy lil bit in there amongst all the tree hugging peace love prosperity stuff. i am not even a smoker and i would of voted in favor of a tobacco tax increase if it wasn't an obvious scam like this. i feel offended on behalf on all californians who got jipped and our intelligence has been gravely insulted
