Baseball career
He signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox of the American League (AL), reported to spring training, and was assigned to the team's minor league system. The White Sox were another team owned by Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf, who continued to honor Jordan's basketball contract during the years he played baseball. He had an unspectacular professional baseball career for the Birmingham Barons, a Chicago White Sox farm team, batting .202 with 3 HR, 51 RBI, 30 SB (tied for fifth in Southern League), 11 errors and 6 outfield assists. He led the club with 11 bases-loaded RBI and 25 RBI with runners in scoring position and two outs. He also appeared for the Scottsdale Scorpions in the 1994 Arizona Fall League.

After he retired from basketball (the first time) in 1993, he spent one season in the Chicago White Sox minor league system, playing the 1994 season for the AA-level Birmingham Barons. It was not a success - he hit only .202 with 3 HR, though he was an effective base stealer (30 SB).

Back in 1994 he was playing for the Birmingham Barons the minor league affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. During the strike that season, they showed Barons games on ESPN. But he refused to be a replacement player had they needed them in the 95 season.

Jordan was in the White Sox organization after establishing himself as a premier basketball star. He loves baseball and wanted to give it a try. He could not hit a curveball, sending him back to basketball. He probably got the chance because the same guy who owns the White Sox used to own the Bulls.

Yes. All of the other answers are wrong though. He started straight with the white sox. He did really horrible and got sent to the minors. He hit two career home runs in the minors and came back up to the majors for about three weeks. After that, he went back to the bulls and wore #45.

After he retired the first time, he tried out for the White Sox. Played a very short time in the minor league, sucked, then went back to Basketball.

Yeah. He played for the White Sox farm team, but only hit in the low .200s. He didn't play all the time, therefore was not as good at it as he could have been. Lucky for him, he had a little thing called basketball to fall back on.
