That depends on where you live, and HOW comfortable you want to live. My idea of comfortable is being able to pay ALL my bills, buy food, clothes, and necessities, and go out on the weekend.

Other people have higher standards of what "living comfortably" is. My Husband and I make $40,000 a year between us, I'm 19 and he's 21, and we're newlyweds. But, we live in an apartment, and you might live in a house with a mortgage.

Cost of living can change dramatically from person to person, so I would say add up ALL your bills and leave room to add more bills, then estimate what you spend on food, clothing etc., and of course money you spend on gifts, going out, etc. That should give you a good start. Then think about what you need to make to cover all of that and still live "comfortably".

I lived quite comfortable on 25K a year and that included 2 mortgages, a car payment and all the normal bills associated with everyday living.

It also depends on what you consider "comfortable"

It depends on your debt-load. If you have no debt, you could live comfortably off of 36k a year.

if you can make $50,000 - $100,000 annually, then you are definitely on your way off comfortable living, otherwise, wait until you hit a big jackpot of any lottery existing now a day.
