internet dating scammer got plane ticket money from me and accidently sent an email meant for another poor sucker. want to try and find person and stop them from getting the next persons money. I have notified yahoo abuse but have not heard anything yet from them. thanks dc

that's why you never buy anything for people you've never met in person.

can't do much. they probably registered with a fake address.

File a police report (anything over $200 or $400 in some states is considered grand larceny). Then hire a lawyer to subpoena Yahoo for their records concerning that email address (access time, the iP address logged ot use that account/signed up for) then you'll have to subpoena the ISP they used to get their private information.

All in, all its going to cost you more to find out who the scammer is. Just take it as a lesson learned.

I'm not sure there is anything you really can do...Yahoo can cancel their account but it is all to easy to get another one. It is, I suppose, technically considered fraud but it would be too hard to actually prosecute.
