No he resigned & Bush accepted his resignation. And bush said in his speech a few minutes ago that he was upset with the outcome of the election.

Thank God he stepped down! Did you know that the first bush refused to hire rumsfeld becuase he felt that he would handle the job wrong!? i guess W just had to find out for himself!

Rumsfeld's retirement IS his reaction.
He probably got spanked by his party because they blame him for losing congress. He NEVER would have gotten rid of Rumsfeld otherwise.
