Microsoft will soon be releasing a hd dvd add on for its xbox 360.
Will I need a hd tv to use this to its full potential?
I have a regular lcd tv.
Would I see an appreciable change in my regular dvds even if I don't get a hd tv?
Is this hd dvd add on really worth getting?

Yes - You will need an HD-capable monitor/TV to take advantage of this product.

You will not see an appreciable difference (assuming your current TV maxes out at 480p, which is what the built-in Xbox DVD drive puts out).

It's worth getting only if you invest in an HD TV

If you do not own an hdtv then more than likely you are not going to notice the difference between regular dvds or hd dvds.

If you don't have a tv that supports HD 1080p or 1080i resolutions, this add on is not worth it at all. Most games do not even support it anyway.
