Bi-partisanship works for a couple of weeks while everyone is sick of politics and then they shake off the "election hangover" and realize that they hate each other more than they love America so it begins again.

I have hope that it can work. President Bush is a good man. Just listen to his press conference a few minutes ago. He said he takes a large part of responsibility for the results of the election. And, he acknowledged that many people were voting based on their feelings about the war. I don't know many presidents that have stood up and been that accountable.

Bush did well in Texas while he was governor in working with both Republicans and Democrats. I actually worked in the Texas Legislature when he was elected. It was said that he was the only governor that had actually met with all members of the legislature both Republicans and Democrats after being elected. Ann Richards, after being elected, had only taken the time to meet with the Democrat legislators.

The elections are over and there is common ground to be had in many areas.

One can hope. Here's hoping that Republicans can show a more bipartisan spirit in the minority of the new Congress than Democrats have shown the last twelve years.
