I heard yesterday that the city I live in has a poverty rate of 25%. I was wondering what the average poverty rate is for the United States? Is there anywhere online I can go to look at poverty rates for average American cities?

It is roughly 12.5 percent. Whatever city you are in has a much higher poverty rate than the majority of the USA.
Those living in the USA on poverty are much much much better off however than those counterparts below poverty rates in many other countries.
Poverty in USA means not having 2 tv's and not having an air conditioning or not affording to buy beer.
Poverty in other countries is when you have to work a 12 hour shift to get $1 .
****Check out this website for evidence of what i just said......(Secure White American is from America i wonder???)
