the summons means the court wants you to come and show why you can't pay child support.
you seem to have a darn good reason, so no worries, just go and take a written statement from your doctor showing you are disabled-they can't just take your word for it. also take your last pay stub and any documents from your job showing you are not working and whether or not return to work is anticipated.
best wishes and a hug,

It Means You Gotta Go To Court And PROVE That You Are Disabled And Unable To Pay Child Support Right Now Or Else She Can Have You Thrown In Jail.

Well, when you first stopped working - you should have filed a motion asking the court to drop you child support amount, due to your illness.
NOW, you will have to go to court - and ask them to lower your support from the date you go and ask them for a payment plan. IF, your mom is willing - she might FORGIVE the arrearage, but I know of way to may custodial parents that refuse to do that.
Be careful though - in some states, you can be 2 months behind and they will arrest you at the show cause!
Good Luck.

If you are no longer able to work are you on SS disability? If so, the state will send to the mother of the child, in the childs name, a portion since you can no longer work as your child support. Not sure what your mom has to do with this unless you mean the childs mom???

Sorry to hear about your troubles...
It means your mom is suing you for child support. Get yourself organized. Find any documents that show any amount of money that you've given her for your child, or perhaps items you've bought, like clothes, toys, diapers, food, etc.
Since you're disabled, you should explain that to the judge, who should take that into account.
In any case, consult with a legal expert in your area. I'm sure there are some that work for free. Call a legal aid clinic to find out.
Good luck!

Well if you are disabled why isn't Social security paying support for your child...Go to court and Bring PROOF that you are disabled...And tell the courts that you are in the process of trying to get social security support for your child...Check into this because they are sup post to do this in a case of disability...

I hope you kept accurate records of the money you spent in support of your child....
You'll need to show that support and that it coincided with your having the ability to work.
You'll also need to show that you are unable to generate income due to disability, and that's when you stopped.
I'd try to get an attorney from legal aid for low, or no cost assistance.

A Rule to show cause means you have to go in front of a judge and explain why you haven't been paying child support. He may at that time modify your current order and you may have to pay less....but you will have to pay at least $10.00 a week.
Hope this helps.

I dont understand what your mom has to do with it. But like you said, it's an involved story. Seek the advise of a knowledgeable attny. Even if you must use one month's child support ck to do so.
