I don't understand what the Democrats strategy is for Iraq.

They said they want to withdraw forces from Iraq - are they merely afraid of casualties?

How come they never said they want to win in Iraq?

What is it about helping Iraq achieve democracy that it bothers them so much they want to lose in Iraq?

Very confusing.

Seems the only winning they're interested in is achieving political power.

'Divide and Rule' was the colonial policy of the British; and America is not lagging far behind. The splintering of erstwhile USSR, Yugoslavia and now balkanization of Iraq into Shiite, Sunni and Kurd regions. With such policies continued , none can ever bring back a stable Iraq that was existing before the Great Invasion. The three regions will for ever be having conflicts like in the Indian sub continent, middle East, Korea etc, a British legacy. Only enlightened American public can save the world from more such splintering. May that Day come sooner than later !!

Some people are still believing there were no weapons of mass destruction. This past June, documents were declassified and released to the public that showed weapons of mass destruction were in fact found.

The only major news network that told the story was FOX. ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN did not report on it. I checked all of their websites for any articles and there were NONE. Why do you suppose that is? They are run by liberals and they are not interested in the truth.

Bush did not give that information out earlier for national security reasons. He put his own reputation and position on the line by his silence, until the information could be put out to the public. When it was ... the major networks ignored it. hmmmm....

Yes, the Democrats are afraid of casualties. I don't like having them either and my heart goes out to every family who loses a loved one. But casualties are a fact of any war. Grown-ups understand this and while not wanting it to be, accept that it is.

If we pull the troops out now, we do in fact lose the war in Iraq. Iran is likely to take advantage of that situation, as will North Korea. We will appear very weak to them, and weakness attracts predetors.

We have not had a major attack on American soil since 9-11. I believe it will happen now, because we have a weakened congress who will not defend the nation, just as Clinton did nothing when the USS Cole was attacked. Of course, he was busy with "other things" back then.

In any case, it will be interesting to see how history records these years. In the end, Christ returns and He wins anyway. The rest is very temporal.

Peace!
Sue

Because we can't WIN in Iraq. Iraq is never going to be an American style democracy with a McDonalds on every corner like Bush imagined.
You and Bush are not afraid of casulities because you are safe at home.

What is winning? The U.S. has already invaded the country, Saddam toppled and about to be executed. The Iranians are in perfect position to bargain with the U.S.: Iraq for atomic bomb. Sounds like mission accomplished, so troops need to get out. End of story.

We are not at WAR WITH IRAQ! We INVADED for a lot of confusing reasons. Saddam has been sentenced to DEATH! Iraq had nothing to do w/ 9-11. They never attacked us or had weapons of mass destruction.

You say "merely afraid of casualties".

I'd say that is the attitude that lost a lot of votes for the Republicans yesterday.

Could you please define what you mean by "win in Iraq"? The President declaired "Mission Accomplished" 3 years ago, is that the same thing?
