In looking up the history of the apollo program they make numerous references to the earths "terminator" as a visual reference for navigation in space. ANy idea what a terminator is?

It is the dividing line between the light and dark side of a planet or moon. If you are standing on a planet or moon at the terminator, you see either a rising or setting sun.

Hi. From space the lit part of the Earth (visible) meets the darkened part (nearly invisible) at the terminator. From Earth it is the sunrise and sunset.
