I still think that libraries are the best bargain of all time. The internet will never replace reading books. Do you agree?

You are right! I could never afford all the books that I want to read. Many I don't want to keep after reading, so why invest money in them. The ones that hit-the-spot, I can then buy a copy to keep if I want to read it over and over.
I keep a folder of all the titles I want to eventually read. Then I reserve them online from my public library and pick them up when they call me. I try to have a stack of 5 to 10 library books at home so I don't run out of reading material.

I like libraries, although I am not overly fond of MY local library. It's just not set up right, in my opinion. Instead of organizing the books into categories (mystery, sci-fi,romance,etc.) the books are simply alphabetical by author. When I want a new book to read, I want to be able to just go and browse through a section of a certain kind of book. I don't always know a title or author that I want to read. It's very frustrating! So, I don't spend much time at my library at all. I get most of my books at garage sales for $ .50 or $ .25.
As for the internet, it's great if you're searching for information. But I don't think it could ever replace sitting down with and reading an actual book. I will be kicking and screaming and throwing a fit if anyone tries to take my good old-fashioned real paper books away!

Absolutely! I got my first library card at the age of 5 and since then have haunted every library in every town I've lived in. My kids learned to read at very early ages because of library material. There is nothing that can replace reading a book first hand.

I buy books, belong to about five or six different clubs. I have my own library stocked with books, I haven't even read them all, and I keep on adding more to it! I don't think the internet will replace books, but you can find out a lot of useful info on the web. But I would still rather sit down with a good book any day.

I love libraries, but I buy most of my books now. Nothing replaces reading books to me. I like movies, but the books are always better. I have my own home library now.

Yes! But I had all but forgotten about the library until about 6 months ago when a friend told me to borrow DVDs there (why would you rent when you can get them for a week at no cost?).

Libraries are great! Free internet, free DVD, free music and free books...

And now my bookshelves can heave a sigh of relief! :-)

I'm a library lover - ours is very well funded and they always have the newest books. You can rent DVD's, books on CD, camcroders, even digital cameras. It's great.

Hey Pepper's Mommy,

I could not disagree with you more. The computer and internet are the deal of the century. No trips to that place where I have to be quiet, no books laying around collecting fees...

And, I can get anything you can (almost). Right on the internet, for free.
