Because they are so tastey when seared with a little lemon butter, and served with a nice Chardeney!

Because they are stupid, these animals will be extinct in a few years and like everything else the people that hand over the most money will win bribery and corruption wins hands down every time
in any situation.

It is the relentless work of people like green peace and all the other world wide organisations that give us hope, if we stand up and make enough noise eventually things can be achieved and the dolphins, whales and all the other animals might be in with a fighting chance.

I wonder why you specified dolphins ? Lets face the following facts.
We kill chicken for food. Little boys kill birds for fun.
We kill cattle, sheep, goats and pigs for food.o eat.
Chinese and Filipino's and Koreans kill dogs for food.
Japanese ,Norwegians kill whales for food .
South Americans kill Llamas for food.
Eskimos kill Seals.
In Africa gorillas are killed as trophies.
The Americans killed thousands of Bison for fun.
Some people kill bears for body parts.
Some people kill tigers for body parts.

Man has a history of killing themselves in power struggles and animals for food, skin and hide for protective clothing and also for fun.

Man as an omnivore will eat anything that crawls, swims, burrows, flies and climbs . Some people relish dolphin meat.

Many of the animals I mentioned are bred in farms and communities for food. Yet ,when you next have a fine sirloin steak at your favourite restaurant remember that the slab of meat was part of a beautiful animal which was slaughtered (humanely I hope ) so that people would not go hungry.

I draw the line when it comes to animals like tigers, bears, whales and dolphins etc because they are not "farm" bred and mans continuing appetite for meat, parts and trophies deplete the wild population.
People kill dolphins for the same reasons too. This answer cannot be disguised in some flowery language .

It's an accidental by-catch from catching schooling fish like tuna. Dolphins like to hang around above tuna schools. When the tuna get netted, occasionally a dolphin gets tangled in the net.

Sometimes it is a mistake by commercial fisherman; the dolphins accidentaly get caught in the commercial fishing nets. They are supposed to release them when this happens. However, if the dophin is already dead, then releasing them serves no purpose then. I don't know of anyone who actually tries to purposely kill a dolphin.

Well before most young people go 'clubbing' they get drunk and take a few drugs and they get confused between dolphins and 'seals' when they are on acid (LSD)

Anyway both dolphins and penguins are overrated.

Most dolphins are killed while fisher men are catching tuna!

Dolphins are an animal who can feed someone, so in order to eat, they may be killed. They are also accidently caught in nets.

Because they have no compassion for life. Norway and Japan are notorious for killing whales and dolphins, them and other countries kill seals for their pelts and to eat. There is plenty of other food, they do not have to do this but they do.

Have you ever noticed that we only kill and eat animals they don't fight back, why is that?

Because they are filthy vermin spreading disease and attacking humans, people kill them to try and wipe out this terrible species so we can swim safely in the oceans without living in fear of dolphin attacks. And also to stop all the pollution caused by them.
