how do I get my comics noticed? Where do I go to publish /copyright them? (newspapers/magazines/etc.)

Not sure, but you should really hit up one of the big comic book conventions to get a feel of the industry. Comic Con and Wizards World are the 2 biggest. Tons of booths and speakers who can tell you about breaking into the industry.
