The exterior material is nylon with leather strap. I tried to find a professional handbag cleaning service in my area, but there are none.

You need to get a cleanser with a brush on the top for the nylon, I had a bag and I used 'Suds' for it sold at ALDO, it actually cleans stitching too without pulling the nylon. Also for the leather strap you have to use a lotion or cream leather cleaner, never use water on the leather as it will dry it out and eventually lead to cracking. If you are still not sure it will work, just bring your bag into the store, they will more than likely do a demo to see if its effective and then you can make up your mind to buy or not.

There really are many leather cleaners on the market, a trip to the local shops should answer you problems. If you wish to avoid that type of product most alcohol cleaning liquids will clean leather to a reasonable degree.

I would try Dryel (home dry-cleaning kit). It has an excellent stain remover you can use on any stains and then just throw it in the bag (included with the kit) and toss it in the dryer. Hopefully this helps!

Try to surface clean it with a soft cloth and light soap. Not too much though.

Nylon, you should be able to hand wash with woolite.Just take care if you have sequins or shinys on it. The longer it sits to soak, the cleaner it will be.
