The premaid fabricated houses are nice and a good price. I was going in that direction but I bought an existing house because land in Northern New Jersey is pricey and you need to have atleast 5 acres to build. Go to you municipal building if you need help.

My family has been in the construction business for quite awhile. My dad has been in construction since 1971...the best place for you to start is talking to someone in your county engineers office. They will be able to giv eyou all the info. you need. They will be able to let you know what permits you have to get, what engineers you can use to build your home, and what contractors they deal with day to day....just so you dont get scammed. I would start there, but whatever you do, if you go w/ a company check references.

You should first go to you local building building/planning department. They will guide you to what the zoning is and the bulk requirements (lot size, setbacks front & rear, height restrictions, side yard, lot coverage etc.). Once you know all of this info you can start drawing up plans to submit to your building department.

That depends on what info you want. You can call a contractor; an architect; your local building department, etc.
