Detailed, intellectual responses ONLY. I'm quite aware that some people are for it and some people are against it, so if all you're going to write is "for it" or "against it," or "for it because it's a woman's choice" or "against it because abortionists are baby-killers," don't bother. I want to know WHY you believe what you believe; no rhetoric, just plain, factual support for the opinions you have.

everyone has the opportunity to think about a condom or other means of birth control before the act. (except in instances of rape of course--which is a different matter completely) but in normal circumstances, abortion should not be legal, people need to be responsible for their actions, and mature enough to respect life. if the outcome is not the right one for you, there are millions of couples waiting for that one opportunity to become parents to any child.

I'm for it. Abortion is going to occur even if it's illegal, before Roe v. Wade there were 1.2 million abortions each year. Some of those women died of internal bleeding because of unsanitary devices used by people who weren't even doctors. I detest when people against abortion think it's okay when the woman's life is in danger because if they really though the embryo is a baby then why won't they give the "baby" a chance to live? Shouldn't its life be more important because the woman got to live? An embryo at 6 weeks (where most abortion happens) is 1/4 inch long with no brainwaves and resembles a salamander, is that a baby? In my opinon no it's not and the woman should be the first priority. If abortion is ever made illegal, then a lot of women will die due to illegal abortions.

Abortion is a very touchy subject for me actually. When I was in high school I was completely against it. I thought that if you were "grown up" enough to have sex you should be equally grown up enough to suffer the consiquences.
But now I'm 22 and I know that you can't always do the right thing. Sometimes things happen in life that are out of your control. Rape, for example. No one chooses for it to happen to them, but it does none the less. Should a woman be held at fault for something that niether wanted nor expected? Should she be forced to have a child that is the product of such a violent act? No, she shouldn't have to, it should be her choice.
What if you are careful and use a condom? What if that condom breaks and you end up pregnant at 16? Should you be forced to have a child that you took precausions against being concieved? Should you be forced to put your entire life on hold and raise a child that you had not planned for? No, you should have a choice. You should be able to terminate that pregnancy if you felt that you were not ready to raise a child. If you are not physically, mentally, emotionally or monetarily ready to raise a child it should be your choice not to.
I myself at this point in my life am not ready to raise a child. I have niether the money, nor the time, nor the emotional availabilty to give that child a good life.
And for that reason I understand that being pro-choice is not the oposite of pro-life. It is more the understanding that life- in all it's forms, is something to be treasured. And if you cannot- for any reason, treasure a life you bring into this world; you have no right to do so.

First let me start by saying I do not believe in religion at all .
Man created religion to deal with his fear of death and wanted to offer himself a chance at eternal life .
Anyone who can believe this is lost in my book .
Now on to abortion .
Life is the most important thing we have in this world and from the time that a mans sperm and a woman's egg unite we have a distinct and new life that forms .
This new live depends on the health of the mother during the first nine months of its life and then requires the care and support of the community at large . This community must raise this person to be responsible respectful and educate them to be able to assist in the well being of the community .Life starts at that moment when male and female DNA combines and Begin to replicate , left undisturbed and provided for by the mother this life will continue in most cases for 70 plus years .
This is not a moral issue but one of education .Till we can recognize this set of facts when life begins and protect this life nothing can be done to end abortion .
Even when you can prove that the person can survive after only 7 months some places still allow the murder of this developing person .
I am sickened by the religious people making this into a moral and biblical battle and not one of fundamental rights of every person created .

I'm against it why because I don't think humans should have the right to decide if another human being that can't make decisions for themselves have the right to life or not.

I think it is horrible to abort a human being...
The baby has a body too!
Don't it have rights to its body!!!!
Because an embryo has feelings they are human beings and can feel it when they are being torn apart...
As for abortion right at birth, think about it, the doctor takes the baby's head and pokes scissors into the soft spot to poke a hole in its head and then they put in a hose in the hole and suck out the brain....
How do you think that feels!
