Is adobe replacing their shockwave player with something better in the near future?

I'm making a project coded in director with lingo and was just wondering if it will be obselete in the immediate future

The player is just that - if a newer one comes out it is backwards compatible with the previous versions

does it matter? as it is you gotta have Flash Player, Shockwave Player or Authorware Player ... makes Adobe look like a "playa". Besides, with Director you can compile it all with a projector, much like a PowerPoint presentation.
