I think embryonic stem cell research is wrong. I am a Christian, have been all my life, and I don't like being stereo-typed because of my religious 'convictions.' Advocates argue that Christians are against embryonic stem cell research because they, we, think when we die we will have to answer for it. NEWS FLASH! I have accepted Christ, I am going to Heaven when I die, and here is the kicker......I won't have to answer for THEIR transgressions! I think embryonic stem cell is wrong because life does begin at conception. The argument that it doesn't is just a way for those who end life to feel better about themselves. You shouldn't be able to harvest humans like potatoes for the sake of research. Any way you look at it, it's wrong. No ifs, ands, or buts. I have a hard time figuring their reasoning. What it boils down to is that they want to kill babies to cure old people. End new life to save one that's already been lived. For what? To add another 10-15 years to a persons life? Why? Like you said, embryonic stem cell research has yielded no results, however, adult stem cell research has been the most promising so far. I don't have an argument with these practices. I don't even have an argument with using aborted embryos for research. I don't believe in abortion, but the US Supreme Court says it is the right of a woman to decide. If she decides to end her pregnancy, then I believe the embryo can be used for research. Is this not a good enough compromise? I have had a great grandmother die from one of those diseases stem cell research promises to cure. I watched her suffer, held her hand as she passed, but I would never have signed anything that would have her better if I had to kill a baby. So many people out there would love to be parents, but they can't because of medical or financial limitations. Democrats want us to sign on for funded programs that allow babies to be killed for research to cure illnesses and diseases. I don't see any of these people pushing for a federally funded program to help barren women conceive the children they so desparately want. Are they really trying to help people?

I think if it really was as promising as Michael J Fox and others think, a corporation would be doing its own research to discover the many cures adherents claim are possible. They would then profit from all these cures and make lots of money.
Since there is little to no chance of a cure coming from it, let the government pay all the bills to give these poor people hope that will never become reality. It is a fraud on the taxpayers and cruel to the afflicted.

Before spouting off such inane rants, you might want to do some research. Embryonic stem cells are NOT extracted from aborted foeti. They come from the leftover eggs that are usually discarded after in vitro fertilization.
So would you rather see stem cells being used in research than can possibly save millions of lives? Or would you prefer it if fertility clinics continued to throw these surplus eggs away? Anyone who opts for the latter can hardly be considered "pro life".

Preach it brother! Can I get a big Amen! Good to know the decent human beings are still with us.
To the people that would tell you to calm down and act like they have so much more knowledge than you: People how do they get an embryo? Embryo is a human life! I'm not sure what people think they are talking about. Just because a baby is made in a lab it doesn't make it anything less than a baby!

Now calm down and listen to some facts. Embryonic stem cell research has been proven effective, but in 1996 the scientists were slapped with a gag order pushed trough by right to life. So they weren't allowed to publish it, but those of us paying attention in 1996 remember the research. The reasearch that was suppressed so my brother is now permanently and totally disabled. Second, abortions were never used for this research, embryos from fertiltity labs were. So your problem isn't with abortion, it is with fertililty clinics. I hop e this clears it up for you

I am against creating a life for research. I think it would be okay if researchers would find a way to use embryos that are going to be aborted anyway. They could work with abortion clinics. I do not agree with abortion but it is a fact in our society. It will never stop and even if it were outlawed we would have girls with coat hangers down dark alleys trying to abort their babies. It is going to be done anyway so it might as well be done right.

Stem cell research needs to be funded.
Aborting fetuses is not the only way to go.
You might change your mind if one of your children needed
treatment derived from stem cell research.
Or you might just have to wait to die & meet up in heaven.
By the way ,did God tell you she was pissed?

and morally we are now also headed in the wrong direction. people need to be responible for their action and not blame it on science or the society.
finally for the budget there goes the state and national level budget and economy and our taxes. people what things to be in place for a better country and community. but who do you think we pay for it in the long run. we do with our taxes, not with the so called federal and state money people think we have.
country is in a mess thanks to the ungrateful american public who forget how our free
