I don't know the current musical context to which you refer, but "drop it like it's hot" means to let go immediately. If someone handed you something that was extremely hot, how fast would you drop it? That's what it originally meant. I can't comment on a song I've never heard, of course. It may be used in some other context now.

To drop it almost to the floor really fast. When you touch something that is hot your reaction is to pull away very fast, so in reference to music to drop it is to shake your booty down to the floor really fast.

I heard it as 'Dropped like a hot potato.'
Basically it's as it says. Imagine grabbing hold of a potato in a bunch and finding that it's red hot when you expected it to be cold. Wow, you'd soon drop it wouldn't you? So the simile refers to anything that would provoke such a reaction whether it be a relationship, idea or anything else.
