Is there always a logical solution to Sudoku puzzles?

Do you sometimes have to guess where a number goes while doing a Sudoku puzzle or is there always a logical solution to solving the puzzle?

Those are my favorite! I am so addicted to them right now!

There are actual strategies to solving the puzzle. The main way to help me out is by doing all the 1's first then all the 2's. Trace each line that has a 1 in it and see if there are any squares that a one has to fit in. After I go through all the numbers I will see if there are any lines that are almost finished and see what numbers are needed. There are some times I do have to guess though.

Here is a site that has over 1,000 puzzles you can print out and work. They have sections of easy, intermediate, challenging, tough, and insane. They also show you the strategies.

The answers aren't always obvious. Sometimes you find a square with several options. You should work around it from another direction, or starting in a different spot, to get the options in your head. Make notes lightly in pencil unless you can keep it in your head - I don't think many people can do that. You'll get better at it, until you can look at it and see where the numbers go a lot faster. Sudoku is good therapy for my brain. I can't get enough.
