When replacing a hood latch on a 93 explorer do you have to tighten up the cable/it seems stretched?

you must replace the cable. ford part# is:E9TZ-16916-A

i have sold ford parts many years.

You should not need to do anything to the cable to change the hood latch.It sounds like you may need a new cable if it is stretched out,these are not adjustable.

If it's stretching it's probably ready to give out. It should be replaced.
