Probably because that would involve a presumably female deity having an equal place to that of God in the Christian church...which would make woman actually important and in a position of power in it's doctrine....which would never do since the church was thought up and unleashed upon the world by power hungry men.
Also probably because god having a wife would also involve "him" having sex..which was likewise frowned upon as an undesirable pursuit reserved for the greek, roman and pagan gods back in days of yore. To permit that idea it would mean accepting the practices of those other older religions as valid too.
That was never going to happen, God may not discriminate and may very well accept and love all... but God does not run the church, man does that, and man is and always has been greedy for power.
everybody knows that if Christianity and Catholicism had in any way been tolerant over the years of it's predecessors that neither would have ever done half so well in terms of popularity.
that's what I think anyway

It really is so simple. He created Adam, in his own image. He created Eve, as a companion for Adam. He looked down and thought "This is good". A few days later he saw the mess that Eve had caused in the earthly paradise and thought "This is bad". He's been a confirmed bachelor ever since.

Isn't he? I expect he's learnt from experience of watching us and he's fed up with people getting married in religious ceremonies and promising till death do them part, and the next minute he sees them parting before they're dead!

In the Bible it often refers to God being the husbandly owner of Israel, and the angels in heaven etc.
So before you ask silly questions read your bible before you quote religion or tradition.
