NO! It wouldn't help even one little bit.

The real problem isn't by any means the UNIONS its a combination of soaring medical insurance benefits and low capacity utilization.

Toyota and Honda build here in the states and pay good wages/benifits though they are not unionized (it is the employees who pay for unions not the companies) (these companies also prove that it is cheaper to build here than overseas then ship). These companies are more profitable than domestic manufacturers because the don't have the burden of thousands of retired employees needing medical assistance forcing the company's premiums higher and higher but, most significant is the issue of capacity utilization. Basically, the US auto makers infrastructure is way to large for their current market. They have over the years lost substantial ground. GM was once the largest auto maker now they barely rank in the top ten and its not because of the unions. Sad to say its a matter of quality, people simply prefer other makes. These domestic makes can still be profitable but they are paying out way to much for facilities way to large for their production/sales.

The REAL reason for our troubled auto industry is POOR MANAGEMENT and oddly these guys incomes have increased over 800% while labor is expected to take cuts for managements mistakes.

Regardless of whether you think this is the best answer is irrelevant, as it is nevertheless 100% CORRECT!

First of all please leave the staement about unions out of there. If it werent for unions. we would be working for chump change just like some other countries.
People in this country have lost their pride and forgotten their history. Dec 7th 1941 have any signifigance to you people. Yet we go buy japanese cars. This is also the fault of our Government for letting these cars in with out a Tariff. What about a Tax credit on liscence plates for people who buy amaerican cars? If any one cares to debate this with me I welcome it
