Perhaps they are voicing their opinion that chosing a name is or should be strictly between the people having the child. This forum can be harsh, but just remember it is anonymous, try and not get your feelings hurt. You also got some thumbs up, remember.
BTW, I like the name Rowan, I also like the name Duncan, which is not over-used currently.
For the girl names, I like Shelby, Kendall, and Aurora.

The thumb's up & down, is nothing more than a way to express an opinion. That's not necessarily a 'bad' rating, it's more of an agree, disagree thing for the most part.
Bad answers & stupid questions may also be given the thumb's down, but anything really BAD that's in violation of the site rules has a 'report abuse' link to follow.
I think you're confusing a difference of opinion with disapproval.

I gave you a thumbs up for that question.
The only reason i could come to is. People are petty.
If I come across a question that is over asked, I answer it, tell the asker thay can also research this question, but no thumbs down. Srry you experienced that, :)
wtforwth - I like your answer, short and funny. I gave you a thumbs up too, hehe

Your premise may be mistaken. Some people give thumbs downs to anything. You're more likely a victim than being given some criticism for asking something supposedly over asked.

Cause they think that they are high and mighty and should be able to decide what questions are asked on here. I like the phrase "there are no stupid questions, just stupid people". Any one who is searching for knowlage and is capable of thinking of a question has the right to ask it, no matter what other people think.
