Anything is possible these days. As mentioned before, you could try community theater and make acting your pastime rather than your career. Or, if you decide to make a major career change to acting, you could use you training in medicine to land you roles as doctors. Anyone heard of Grey's Anatomy?

Community Theater. If you absolutely have to go into medicine, then community theater is the answer. My local theater has nurses, doctors, and other professionals that perform during the year.
