This is something I can only answer from my personal experience as I have no educated knowledge on this matter. But we bought a German Shepard, he was just 3 when we got him, he is so attached to my husband. That when my husband goes out of town, he sits and sleeps by the front door waiting for him to return, if he is gone for any length of time he does not eat til the 3rd day. And when my husband does come home, he rubs up against him, runs around and goes gets all his toys to play with him.

And then he jumps on my side of the bed to go to sleep with him.

I think .....there is a dog human relationship here.

And my Yorkie is very old, she sticks very close to my German Shepard.

I think that animal relationship are best suited of the survival of the species. A male grizzly will eat young grizzly cubs but only until he's full. Brutal yes but we will exterminate a species because of avarice.

Some species mate and eat. The female preying Mantis and most spiders eat the males after mating. Much like my ex wife tried too.
