There are two possibilities for you to solve this question. First you can have a look at a country where there is a regime that is comparable to that of the porks in animal farm.

Try to have a look at wikipedia and search for some totalitarian regimes like. Type in "olygarchie" and look for the name of a country, Or type in "totalitarian regime"... than research the countries you find under these keywords. Quickly you will find that there are small groups of people dominating these countries. A minority is supressing the majority. Your teach might like it if you draw a comparison between the government of such a country and the rule of the porks.

The second possibility is for you to transfer the message of the novel to a situation in your closer environment. The animal farm is about a few people supressing others. It is a bit like darwin's survival of the fittest. But the strongest person also can't do everything on his own, a physically weaker person might own qualities that the strong guy is lacking. Try think of your community, or school, for sure there are kids who always bully others. Sometimes these bullies are physically strong and very mean to weaker kids. They very often forget, that maybe at the end of the semester, they need the weak students help to pass an exam, because they were so busy missing class. That's when the little one grows powerful...

So try to tell a story where you observed that someone supressed somebody else or was mean to him only because he or she was weaker. And that will be a good answer to your teacher's question.

Here are some questions that should help you understand the assignment and figure out what to write...

What is the cultural environment in the novel? Who "rules" over the other animals? How are the animals treated? Remember the part where it says, "all animals are equal, however some are more equal than others"? Can you think of any culture in our world today that claims that everyone is equal, however, it's obvious there are some who obviously get more than the rest? This doesn't have to be a country ... it could be a specific microcosm of people where they're all supposedly treated alike, but obviously, there are some who get special treatment. Think about the world around you -- haven't you seen or heard of any place like that?

When I was in high school, all students were supposed to be treated fairly, but it was quite obvious that certain students (like... football team members, for example) were given special considerations... there's an example for you.

By the way, I'm going for something beyond the OBVIOUS culture that Orwell was commenting on with this book.

You could be classical and look at revolutionary Russia, or you could be cynical and look at USA 2006.
