how much fliud does the transmission take, for a 1988 Buick Regal/ 2.8 litter engine?

Over 10 quarts, but you won't get that much in. You can't drain the torque converter.

About 16 quarts if you're talking about flushing it. You'll only lose about 5 by dropping the pan.
