Great! Why people didn't see that the Republicans are slimy, underhanded bastards during the 2004 elections is beyond me. Bush's approval rating is 41%. And almost 75% of voters said in exit polls that "corruption" was the number 1 factor in their decision to vote Democratic rather than Republican. Now I hope that the Dems can win the Senate as well.
Interesting also how history repeats itself. A quote from Thomas Jefferson:
"A little patience, and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolve, and the people, recovering their true sight, restore their government to its true principles. It is true that in the meantime we are suffering deeply in spirit, and incurring the horrors of a war and long oppressions of enormous public debt......If the game runs sometimes against us at home we must have patience till luck turns, and then we shall have an opportunity of winning back the principles we have lost, for this is a game where principles are at stake."
--Thomas Jefferson, 1798, after the passage of the Sedition Act.

the two gubernatorial races had greater to do with community themes and the economic gadget than they did with with a shifting of the political winds interior the democrats' desire on a countrywide point. Obama's interest approval remains nicely above 50% in those 2 states, so this has little to do with the theory of democrats on a countrywide point. Being as delusional as you're must be bliss. you basically look so happy. i do no longer prefer to smash the temper for you, yet that may no longer a renaissance for the GOP. the single race that mattered on a countrywide point replaced into gained via the Democrats, as they gained ny's twenty third congressional district, a district traditionally held via the GOP.

Your question demonstrates much of what's wrong with the US! It matters little how I FEEL about it, the concern should be what I THINK about it, about how it will affect the country! My emotional response to the party change doesn't mean anything.
That said, we're likely to see gridlock in the congress, and a 2 year campaign started to elect a Democrat to the Presidency. I expect very little change, as neither party has done much of benefit the last few years. Why would anyone expect anything different?

A bit apprehensive - we definately benefited from the tax cuts (and no, we're certainly not rich!) so I'm pretty concerned there. However, I am willing to give the newly elected the benefit of the doubt and hope that they are more moderate than Pelosi. If they're not, well - I don't even want to think about that.

I don't think it was all that sweeping, but I think it was expected. Generaly I feel good but disappointed that it came to this in order to even attempt to change directions on some issues like Iraq.

i really don't see it changing the way I live or do things. I'll still stand up for what I believe in no matter who's in office.
