The Democrats have been shut out by Hastert, Delay and the rest of the Republican leadership for the last 6 years. Basically, what Pelosi is saying is that Democrats are going to take the high road and follow the Golden Rule. It's not payback time, it's time to get something accomplished.

Um it was the SAME SPEECH Republicans gave in 2002, and in 1994 when they took over. It's called LYING. Perhaps if you researched the USG and the Political Parties you'd come to the same conclusions as I did: the parties are tools of distraction to keep the majority working class and poor from combining forces to oust the corrupt, greedy elitists who keep "being elected" as representatives. It's called, informally I believe, the "Strategy of Confusion." Had Gore or Kerry won the Presidency, the same Trilateral and CFR (Council on Foreign Relations) goons who are now in Bush's cabinet would have the EXACT SAME JOBS THEY NOW HAVE. Hence, both major parties and the lameduck third parties (Green, Libertarian, etc...) back the same elite, wealthy retards who have no intention on helping the average US citizen out.

Until now, the republicans have refused to cooperate with anyone not approved by the bush-league, those drug using, male prostitute using, page molesting paragons of American morality.

Now they have to cooperate. She should have said "go taking a flying leap at a rolling pervert", but she held out the olive branch. Sort of like trying to making friends with a pack of demented apes. And looking at the airhead comments above (sorting out the few rational ones), you guys really do run in packs, don't you? Or is it all puppet sites?

I don't know the answer to the question of what about the last 6 years. But it is logical for two buttocks of the same *** (which "Republicans" & "Democrats" are like) to work together.

With this election, the will of the people spoke loud and clear. Most are sick of the corruption of the Bush administration and of hearing of American soldiers dying in this Iraqi war. It is time for the people of this country to work together for the common good of us all. Not dedication of most efforts to the haves and have mores that Bush calls his base....his words not mine. This is not a them vs us situation, not a college football game that one can cheer for. This is a country in serious peril from the unchecked rule of fear of a tyrant. How does one work with someone whose beliefs are so different from your own that you cannot even recognize them? Maybe the republicans will also work toward a common good of the country and put bipartisian politics behind them. It is time to fix this country not go cheer for your team. The republican ship of fear has finally run aground.

I believe that it is,as she put it,"time to drain the swamp".

Bush's record for diplomacy is HORRIBLE.
Republican corruption:DITTO.
No personal fault of yours.

America has said enough is enough of one side with no accountablilty. The percentages of conservative vs. liberal social tastes stay about the same, but it is time for a new direction.

I trust that Pelosi can lead and be instrumental of positive change, and that benefits ALL Americans.

I think they have been working together, but couldn't get anything done because of the lack of checks and balances. Now they have the majority in the House and a.t.m. are one seat shy of the Senate. Now maybe they can get their ideas across.

The last six years we've been closed out of the commitees, consultations, and just the entire process by the Rep majority.
She's actually saying that she won't close out the Reps like we were closed out.

For 6 years the white house and the republican congress have had a "my way or the highway" attitude.
Face it. You lost and your attempt to twist things around is pretty lame.

I don't believe anything a politician says, even if it's "good morning." Also, they can talk for days on end and yet say absolutely nothing worth listening to.

It's just the usual post-election political rhetoric, nothing more.
