I can't see the actual hippies, or ex hippies jiving to that stuff! LOL just think of it, that's not going to happen.
So yes that music takes hard core people to enjoy it. There are some pretty nasty words in rap music. Seen as music DOES make a difference in peoples lives.. rap makes people quite angry. I've seen it done.

The person who answered your previous question was right - not all rap/hip hop music is bad or negative. Contrary to popular belief, there are many hip hop/rap albums that don't have explicit lyrics and/or promote positive things (i.e. - Christian rap, some conscious rap, some old-school rap, etc.), but most of these kinds of albums never make it to popular mainstream status. Unfortunately, a lot of the real hip hop artists have been put on the backburner or are stuck in the underground circuit because they're not what the mainstream masses want right now. As for the more explicit brand of rap, if a child's parents don't instill the difference between fantasy and reality and an ethical and moral standard in them, then yes, this kind of music can be harmful. However, the same goes for other genres of music, as well as movies, video games, TV shows, etc. Nowadays, sex, violence, profanity and materialism is everywhere, not just in music.
As for why rap music is so controversial, the answer's easy - because that's the kind of rap music that makes the most money for the industry right now. I'm sure you've noticed even in other genres besides rap/hip hop music that most of these record companies have devolved into nothing more than money-grubbing corporations. They're not interested in creating legends with long careers or nurturing their artists anymore, they just want whatever will make them a quick buck. And what's always guaranteed to make big bucks? Sex, drugs, violence, misogyny, etc. In a word, controversy. They saw that the more negative aspects of the music resulted in record sales (a sad reflection of our present society), so they took it and ran with it, shoving it in our faces and filling our ears with it every chance they get. So what do they do next? They condition the masses and flood the market with whatever "trend du jour" makes them the most money as opposed to actual talent, variety and substance (you do realize the term "tastemaker" is used very often in the music industry, right?). That's what the real problem is. There's just no balance in mainstream rap/hip hop anymore, and that's why it's so stereotyped. Since the masses only see the negative side, then it's no surprise that a lot of people think all rap/hip hop is negative.
Hope this answers your questions.

speaking as an atheist, I ought to admit i'm with them on Rap music. The 'lake of fireplace' bit is crap of direction, yet so is Rap, in my opinion. i do no longer think of which you may use the words Rap and music interior the comparable sentence. regardless of if, it relatively is totally commonplace, so this is obviously valid. regardless of if, greater than a number of the persons who're effective Rap artistes are heavily undesirable human beings, and that's in my opinion in fact incorrect that they must be lauded and fashionable via (youthful) human beings. yet, this is how this is.

It is sterotype for the same reason anything is. People need a reason to blame somebody for something, so they point to the music, or the video games. GOD FORBID THE PARENTS BLAME THEMSELVES!! I have to say that some rap is worth getting bashed or sterotyped. All it does is talking about girls in a horrible manner, or drugs, and other unmentionables. Some rap is just what it should be....another form of expressing yourself!!
