I only have a windows 98 installer.?

Can i fmt existing laptop using windows xp ? Any best method perform such formating ? Its an old compaq model.

dont waste your time the processor/memory and hardrive probably wont handle xp

If it has less than a 1Ghz CPU and less than 512MB RAM and less than a 10GB HD; then DON'T BOTHER, while you MAY be able to load XP it won't run efficiently or fast! Get a newer unit!
Formating for XP can be done from the XP CD when loading the OS onto the system.

could always put windows 2000 on it
