Increaingly i feel ashamed to be a young persong in this country, i am sick of passing old ladys in the street and wathcing them scared as they cross the street to avoid me feeling intimidated. I do not dress in a way that should pose a threat because im a pri*ck in a hoody covering my face, or walking with a limp in a gang of thugs. Seeing all the other teenagers on the street in gangs talking about "shanking" people and all this crap is pathetic. Talking with a west-indian accent when you are white or asain, even the black kids that do it probably have British parents so why do we put on fronts all the time? I can get no respect at my young age because of these people who i myself refer to as "c.unts!"
I think it really is about time that we grew up lads!

Interesting. I was certain you were going to discuss the American youth, but I guess your from the UK. Even more interesting to me is that talking with a West-Indian accent is considered gangsta over in the UK.

Now what I need to know is do you dress in a gangsta style or are these older people just afraid of you because you are young? If you are dressing in a gangsta style, then you have to accept that there are people who don't approve and have predisposed, sometimes incorrect, beliefs about people who dress like that. You also need to consider if you want to continue dressing like that knowing how people perceive it.

Interesting you ask this question. About 15 years ago, in Long Beach, California (USA), a young boy was shot and killed in front of his school because a gang of thugs thought the boy belonged to their rival gang. They assumed he wasn't in their gang so he must be with another gang. The boy was not involved in any gang, he just happened to dress like them. Be careful of the image you present to others. Perhaps if you stop dressing like a 'gangsta' you'll stop scaring the little old ladies. Who's to say, when someone looks at you, that you aren't a 'real' gangster?

It's because you WILL respect those of power and authority. Fear is a tool used to gain power and authority.

In my opinon, the older generation screams "Kids have no respect these days" all too often. But, who was it who raised the younger generation? Let us stop pointing and finger pointing, and see how we can start to remedy the situation for the next generation.

True! Everyone where i live wears the latest nike, track suit bottoms, tops and baseball caps and all think they're gansters. They all look the same, i think twice about getting into an arguement in case i get shot.

That's the good one, thanks. Why teens start to smoke? Because they want to look older. And all that gangster type from there is well. Cool stuff... not. Thanks to media too for creating a monster
