i just recently got a cell phone broadband connection (through verizon wireless) so i can bypass some of the restrictions on my internet connection at work, but i still need to be connected to the lan at work. When i plug in the internet lan, it disconnects my dial up connection within about 15 seconds. How can i get it to stay connected after it detects a LAN internet connection?

i have no problem connecting to the lan. the problem is that the dial up connection to verizonwireless keeps disconnecting itself. i believe the dial up may think it's no longer needed when a LAN internet is available, but i need it still.

it is QUITE possible that your workplace system administrator has set it up this way to keep people from doing EXACTLY what you are trying to do, BYPASS the company security.

You should quit trying, BEFORE YOU GET FIRED!!

In addition to getting fired, you COULD be in violation of certain FEDERAL statutes, by "going around" the security set up to insure the company's data security, as required by federal law.
Not knowing who you work for, or in what department, or what you normally have access to, I can not be any more specific.

You need a VPN connection to access the LAN, the company must provide it. That way you can connect to internet and 'inside' that conection create a virtual tunnel that connects you to the Lan, without any security problems.

in case you referring "combining 2 dial-up service on an identical telephone line" then specific. If no longer, i think of it somewhat is impossible to have 2 information superhighway service on an identical router and laptop.
