Because unlike women, they do not have breasts or hips and thighs (the things that make women curvy) Therefore it all goes to their bellies. Eventually if they do get too large, they will start seeing it in their chest and thigh areas, but its mostly the stomach area.

In the words of that great philosopher.....

"!!..Doh..!!"

[ Homer Simpson ]

It seems to me that 'until one gathers that EXTRA bulk around the belly, invariably men are not (in conventional terms) 'over weight' ~ unless they develop a great deal of muscle.

It has struck me as weird (and even more so since the introduction of the Body Mass Indicator chart) that 'Rugby Players, for example, are supposedly over-weight (in the terms of the chart) and thus un-fit -- because the muscle mass is just measured as 'weight.' Whereas, you simply cannot be 'unfit' and play Rugby.

On the other hand, if you ever go into a hospital or med centre, see how many 'over' weight nurses you can spot.

It's not exactly a critique, just as statement of observation.

Not ALL overweight men get big bellies! Some have huge body mass because of their muscle size--and height matters as well! But the pot-bellies are because you are what you eat. And what you eat goes...to the stomach, that's right so your fat builds there and other places like the buttocks and thighs, chin, etc. It has to do with glands and stuff that I havn't really learned completely of yet.

Fat cells naturally gravitate to the male stomach, which is OK but if other parts of the body go with it, well that's not good. I mean how many times have you seen obese females that are fat all over?

The same reason overweight women get big butts and thighs.

Men tend to store their fat in their stomachs where women will store fat in their stomachs and their thighs and their hips. Lucky us. :)
