I think advances have been made but unfortunately there are still plenty of bigoted, backward thinking, homophobic people out there.

I think its more acceptable among the people, but not in Government nor religion. I think for the people it is becoming as natural for us to see a gay couple as to see a straight one. (obviously i do not mean that everyone is excepting, but there are more excepting people than before)

I also have to agree with Tracer, it was more acceptable in Greek and Roman times, in fact it was considered true love when 2 men did it. A woman was just merely a sexual pleasure than to make love to.

Yep. It's better.

And despite one of the answers posted, I've never met a gay person who "advertised" their sexuality? Does this mean they put an ad in the paper? I have seen however a lot of heterosexuals who insist on flaunting the details of their romantic lives. Get over yourselves already.

Hey, this is the internet. If I post something, it must be true.

I'd say it's only SLIGHTLY more accepted and still universally despised & shunned. there's a long way to go before true acceptance & respect. Maybe never in the USA. this is a fascist country, bigoted, conformist & homophobic, definitely NOT Tolerant like some parts of Europe & Asia.

In the U.S., it is. I'm old enough to remember what life was like in the 1960's. Much more acceptance; we had no thought of marriage or military service for gays then.

It's certainly more out in the open now then it ever was. For some reason, people seem to feel the need to advertise their sexual preferences to others. Very strange!
