Over the past few months or so, I have heard some disturbing things about this woman who will now be Speaker of the House. If some of these things are true, how can anyone be confident and feel good about her taking over? Its scarey but I also know I shouldnt believe everything. Does anyone have a link or links that they can provide on what this woman is all about? Feel free to share your own opinions also but I would like some facts as well. Should this country be worried about our future with her headed to the House?

Why don't you say what you've heard?

You will always hear disturbing things about people elected into or appointed to positions of power. If you pay attention to unfounded rumors you'll drive yourself nuts.
I would be more worried if the Republicans had retained control of the Congress and Senate - giving Bush [the madman] the same power he had before the election, when he thought he was seated at the right hand of God, and the voters believed it enough to elect him to a second term.

I'va actually had plenty of contact with her. She's from an old political family in my hometown of Baltimore (her father and brother both served as mayor). I've also had professional contact with her (I'm a journalist).
She's okay. Smart and a straight shooter.
She's certainly not immune to the failings common to all politicians, and it would be legitimate to oppose her on ideological grounds, but she's not evil or crazy or anything like that.
I wouldn't worry.

Most of what you have heard is probably a combination of lies and slander. She's an excellent leader and excellent at organization. She freely admits she is left on the political spectrum, but has already said numerous times she rules by consensus and not her personal politics. A refreshing change from politicians who tell us what to think.
