does anyone know how to figure out a QB rating? Or do you know of a site that will tell me how to figure it out? I'm asking because it is something that has always bugged me, because I never could figure out how they come up with the numbers they do. If you can help me I would totaly apreciate it. Thanks.

No and it is a complete mystery to American football fans also. It is something they just came up with about 20 years ago to confuse us. I have never figured out how a QB gets a rating over 100 when his team loses and he throws and interception or goes for something like 12 for 16. Makes not sense.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passer_rating

Contains a complete explanation along with pro and con arguments.

It's based on the QB's performance in four aeas... (1) Completion Percentage (2) Yards gained per pass attempt (3) Interception Percentage and (4) Touchdown percentage.

The highest possible rating according to this system is 158.3.

There are problems with the system...already mentioned is the fact that fumbles by a QB are not taken into account... neither are yards gained from running the football.

QB's who play in cold-weather, outdoor stadiums are probably at a disadvantage, as it's more difficult to complete passess in poor weather (which affects completion percentage).

To me, the essential problem with the rating is that it doesn't account for fumbles. Kurt Warner is a great example of a guy with a sexy QB rating but a disturbing tendency to fumble...
