I've been to a few different postal branches recently, and each time noticed that the people working the counter seem to hate their jobs. They also seem very lazy. On one occasion, there were two women just talking behind the counter about their upcoming holiday schedule, while customers just stood in line waiting to be called up. And you can see the employees in back just shuffling around like zombies, trying to look busy without really doing anything. What gives?

I understand your frustation with our finer postal employees however its the same thing with people who work fast food ...shitty pay, poor work ethics, and general lack of interest in the job..not everyone gets to be a rock star ...Hope this helps

Hello Darnell, I am sorry about your occurrences. I think it really just depends on the people which work there. In my area the postal employees are upbeat, have good attitudes, and work hard. When i go there then there is no line and if there is then they have people at the counter that care about giving good customer service. Thank God.

1. maybe they get paid crap and people who work for crap money are only at their jobs for the paycheck, not because they give a rat's butt about your damned packages

2. because they're working with the public, and stupid people just suck the life out of you

3. the hours the postal service have allow moms to work flexible hours, therefore moms who don't really want to work (but their husbands tell them they have to) are working mom's hours at these places...or they're moms whose kids are in college and they don't have to be home anymore. We get loads of them at the local Starbucks and my coffee hasn't been the same since it was all college students who actually cared about the difference between a latte and a machiatto. And they make the brewed coffee weak too like they work at 7-11 or something. I feel like I'm back at Dunkin Donuts where the coffee tastes like jelly doughnuts.

Sorry....got off on that one a bit.

I'm not sure. I don't know about where you live. But around here postal workers make pretty damn good money. I would be skipping to work if I made the kinda money they do for the hours they work.

People need money and if they can reach their goal to have their dream job they get in any position they can.Which is working in a place they done like, and because they don't like it they don't respect their job most of the time.

Answer 2, statement 2. That is exactly why. The general public is so stupid you have to walk away to avoid becoming homocidal sometimes.
