The only other option is same sex attraction...which makes one gay or bi. There are examples of same sex attraction in the animal kingdom as well.

There is not "always" anything. You realized this by the end of your question.
This is the problem when trying to shoehorn everyone into someone's definition of "normal."
People should be supported whether they are gay, straight, or somewhere in-between. "Always" will never fit everyone.
