I was babysitting this kitten for my aunt. well when my aunt came and got the cat my sister and I started noticeing flea bites on my childern, my sister, and myself. My older sister had told me to use vinegar and water to get rid of them. So I did I sprayed all of the rooms and even the screens on the windows. No fleas have been noted yet but a odor of vinegar has and it is making us sick to our stomachs.

I would use one of those shake on powdery products. Look for one that contains baking soda. I find baking soda takes the odor out of just about anything. Good luck.

I have never heard of vinegar killing fleas but ok. If you have a steam cleaner you may want to run that through the house or where you sprayed the vinegar. The smell should go away when the carpet is completely dry.

How do you neutralize odor in apartment when both vinegar/water and later professional cleaning was applied to carpet? Smell has become so strong hardly can stay there. vonnie p

yep, baking soda neutralizes vinegar. Do you have a wet vac? If you sprinkle the baking soda over the area where the vinegar is, and let it stay there for a while, after you've swept it over to make the baking soda go down into the pile. Then wet vac it, or use a wet sponge to go over the area. It might fizz but that is okay, as it is working. Then let it dry and vacuum it up.
