In New York State the Notary fee is fixed: it's either $2.00 or $3.00 (per document notarize, the Notary can clarify. Some banks notarize their "own" documents. If you have a legal secretary friend, he or she is probably a Notary. Ask your neighors, friends, if they are a Notary. Friends and family will usually notarize without charging.Ask everyone you know if they are a Notary. A notary cannot charge more than the state allows $3.00. Some scams exist in an attempt to charge more than the $3.00 maximum.
