I think it depends on if the possession charges were a felony or a misdemeanor (possession of one bong screen? Misdemeanor. Possession of a truck full of crack pipes? I'm thinking felony). I think if you get arrested (or stopped, and they pull up your name, SSN#, etc.), that the warrant will come up. If that happened, I think that the Seattle cops would put you in a Seattle jail, and the Idaho authorities would have the burden of coming to pick you up in Seattle. Whether or not they choose to do that probably depends on the charges behind the warrant. Seattle cannot keep you in jail indefinitely - but I do know one person who was kept in jail almost a month awaiting an extradition decision. If Idaho decides that you are not worth coming to Seattle to claim, I believe the warrant cannot be enforced and Seattle has to release you (assuming you weren't arrested in Seattle for something unrelated). The warrant is not for the possession - the warrant is because you didn't go to court to resolve the possession charge(s). Unfortunately, not going to court to resolve the original charges is actually WORSE than the charges themselves (in your case). Why you didn't go to court when you should have is now a moot point. Do you really want to live like a fugitive over such piddling charges? It's not worth it. Contact the court in Idaho and speak to the DA in Bonners Ferry. Tell them that you had to leave the state unexpectedly, and would like to come back to resolve this mess before it gets out of hand (yes, worse than it already is). Then do what they tell you to do. Suck it up and put this behind you. Living in fear is not living, and taking a chance on not getting caught, anywhere, ever again, for anything, is a risk I personally would not recommend. A simple traffic stop might be all it takes.
Just read your additional comments. I think all of the same advice basically applies. Regardless of why the warrant was issued, you have to call these people and get the ball rolling to straighten it out before you end up back in jail. CALL THEM. Tell them that you don't want to get in more trouble, but you don't have the $$. ASK THEM what your options are. As the saying goes, you can't get blood out of a turnip, but, the courts expect you to find a way to come up with SOMETHING. Do not ignore this problem. Not only won't it go away, it WILL get worse. Just CALL THEM.

SHO NUFF! Posession of paraphenalia is low on the list of misdemeanors, while no cop that values his time will waste it by driving to Seattle to pick you up, there may be one who has always wanted to try a donut from Washington.
As a convicted midemeanerarian (my own word), please heed my advice, contact the court where your warrant originated, and see if you can just pay the fine (some courts will even let you have a payment plan). Trust me, you don't want to get arrested and have to sit in County for three weeks while Idaho decides if its even worth the trip of going to pick you up accross state lines.
Take care of it, then you can relax every time a cop happens to be driving anywhere near you while you're on your way tro score

I'm not sure. I THINK that they can't stop you FOR the warrant here... but if you get stopped for something else, and they find out you have a warrant, they might be able to arrest you.
It will also probably depend on how "techy" the precinct was that issued the warrant. Most pd's are online with one another nowadays... but I'm sure there's still a few who arent... in which case nobody else would know about the warrant. Chances of that are probably pretty slim though.

If you are pulled over for a traffic violation or arrested for something they will run your name. The warrant will show up in their files. They will hold you then contact Idaho to find out more information and figure out what Idaho wants to do. You may have to do time in Seattle or Idaho may want you to do time in their state.
My suggestion is to get your name cleared up and get the time done and out of the way. You don't want to have things going very well for you, end up in jail or prison and lose everything and then you would have to rebuild your life again.

Yep. The data base used to search for warrants will reveal when someone has a warrant, regardless of where they live. The more you run from the warrant and refuse to face the music, the more trouble you will add to your list of woes.

Hmmm....is that a misdemeanor or felony in Idaho. That's what it depends on. If it's a felony possession.....then if you get stopped ANYWHERE in the country....your warrant will come up. Then you have the whole extradition issue, too.

If it for a bad enough offense they will come and find you. All law enforcement is connected to massive computer databases which track warrants of all kinds even for misdemeanors.

warrants are national, they may or may not physcially come checking and looking for you, but will merely wait till you are stoped for speeding or some traffic check. Then the warrant will show up and you will be detained till they check and see if they wish to pay to have you transported back.
