Well I actually met one of my close guy friends on the net 10 years ago and do you know we are still friends this very day. I can call him and talk to him about almost anything. As a matter of fact I need to email him now to let him know it has been a decade. LOL!!

I made a good friend through my fantasy baseball league once. It made a huge difference that we had some friends in common (the ones who started up the league) - right away I knew that they weren't totally psycho, or lying about themselves. We lived in different cities and I probably would never have met them without the internet - but again, it wasn't like they were a total stranger either. Without a real-life person to vouch for someone I met on the internet, I am risk-averse enough that I doubt I would ever trust someone enough to go from Net Stranger to friends.

I have two friends I met via the net. One is in Canada and she's so much like me it's frightening! The other is in Ireland, he's very nice and has come over to the States to visit, not me personally, but just on holiday. I was able to have some lunch with him and it was very nice. I've been friends with my Canadian buddy for a year and one month now, and my Irish buddy and I just celebrated our 2nd year of friendship anniversary this past August. It's nice to have friends all over. I hope to make some more. But as for online dating....no, I married my hubby whom I met face to face via another friend.

I never made a friend that i met in person, but I kept up email friendships for a while with a few people.

I had a childhood friend that i did not see in years, who lived hundreds of miles away. After my first baby was born, I received a letter in the mail from her, and her email was in it, so I emailed her back, and we have been exchanging email ever since.

My cousin met a guy through online dating, and they married, but divorced 4 years later. (not to say this happens to everyone, just that it happened to her)

Hi there

I met my hubby on the internet in April 2001 and we married November 2003. We now have a daughter aged almost 2.

I have two friends who met on the net, they both married in 1999.

Both me and my husband are not pubby people and agree it is the best way to meet :-)

I know that I FEEL I have secured a very small circle of people that are either my family or friends by now. Anyone that's purely an "associate" is someone I just respond to inside message boards. My e-mail and IMs are reserved for my family and/or those who GROW to bond or connect with me as either family or friend.

I'm a very open person but am very, very selective with whom I become vulnerable. Showing vulnerability requires I allow a certain openness, and I'm a woman who loves HARD, and by "hard", I just mean that I love deeply...oh so very deeply.

There are people online that I know I can reach if only I ask, doesn't matter the manner...because all it takes for me is asking a question.

I do feel I've earned a lot of what people online feel I've shown myself deserving of from them, and I thank God. I take no one for granted, nor anything I have, or anything I may receive..because every one is valued by me as I am by them. What I give of myself is real, and what I receive is just as real.

My mission even coming online was to establish and maintain friendships that are real and true, with people from all over the world, in places I CANNOT physically travel to (I'm disabled), and over the years I truly believe with a few folks I've accomplished my goal.

I've never married, but I've flirted online and connections I've made will remain, because with me, true friendship is forever.

I met my current boyfriend on yahoo personals on Valentines day, i had just joined the day before and he was the first response i got. He lived an hours drive away but that didnt stop us from meeting in March and every weekend after that. I moved in with him fully in July, found a job and we have been blissfully happy ever since - see you can find special people online, mostly when you least expect it xx

Well, my wife's co-worker actually met someone on Match.com, about 2 years ago, and... they're now happily married, bought a house and living the good life. So miracles do happen, I suppose....
