Are you diluting the lysol properly? Measure it out and it shouldn't be sticky. I dilute it a little more than the label calls for, and my tile is never sticky. There are also special cleaners for ceramic tile, but they are more expensive obviously. When I really want a good cleaning I scrub the floors with strong lysol, and then mop back over with plain water. It's a lot of work, but the floors are clean and look great (no streaking after I use the water).

Best Mop For Tile

I would love to use a mop, but my dad has taught me the best way to mop the floor. I use a bucket of hot water and a little dish soap. Then it's best to actually scrub the floor with your hands. It's not very fun but it works better than any mop can do! Then after I scrub a few tiles, I follow behind with a towel to dry everything up.

What are microfiber mops?
These mops consist of a lightweight handle with a very maneuverable flat rectangular head. A microfiber pad attaches to the mop head with velcro. In a typical application, freshmicrofiber pads are placed to soak in a basin of cleaning solution on the cleaning cart. In each room, a clean cloth is taken from the basin, hand wrung out, dropped flat on the floor and the mop head is placed on it. The velcro attaches the cloth to the mop, which is then ready for use. In a typical setting, you use 1-2 pads to clean a room. After use, you easily remove the soiled pad by placing a foot on the pad edge and lifting the mop handle away. The soiled pad is set aside for laundering. Used pads are not returned to the cleaning solution, so the cleaning solution does not become contaminated or need replenishing.

Using a microfiber flat mopping system with Mr. Clean finished floor cleaner in the PROPER dilution ratio will leave your floor in nearly perfect condition. Sticky is caused by too much detergent. Streaks are caused by dirty mops leaving behind residue.

For linoleum, tile and wood floors try Holloway House Clean and Shine after you clean with a good synthetic neutral pH detergent like Mr. Clean finished floor cleaner. I wouldn;t use Mop N Glo if somebody paid me.

My ex layed tile for a living. He actually used Murphy's Oil Soap. I know that it says that it is for wood, but he swore by it. That's what he used to "professionally" clean up his jobs and our home. It did leave a nice shine.

If you have a waxy build up, that will have to be removed...I have excellent results with lemon ammonia...(if you can stand the smell)...if the tile is new, I would use only non-detergent cleaners...like vinegar....no build up....no streaks....

I use a little bit of vinegar, warm water and some windex. The windex will make the floors shiny!

I recommended the vinegar/water solution as well. It cuts through just about anything and is a non-harmful disinfectant.
