My baby is 7 weeks old.
She naps in the swing during the day for hours at a time.

I limited it because:
1. I was concerned about the constant motion straining the baby's muscles at a young age.
2. I wanted the kids to be able to sleep while not moving.

Ask your doctor about this as 7 weeks is in the middle of when babies can first start using it (6-8 weeks).
Always double check that the baby is fastened securely and cannot slip--- never go to sleep or rest while the baby is swinging.

Congrats on the baby!

my 3 and 1/2 month old really loves her swing its one of those ones that they are basically lying down in any ways and either goes front to back or side to side. i never limit her time in it. if she starts to get bored i take her out and do something different with her. the time that shes entertaining herself in the swing i can get TONS of stuff done around the house. I don't thing swing time is bad.

I spend all day in mine for the first fwe months.

My friend let her new born sleep in hers all night.

When it comes down to getting the sleep you both need, somethings got to give. I dont think it makes you a bad person. If the baby is sleeping, its growing and progressing, if youre sleeping, youre staying sane.

I tired not to let them sleep in their swing or their carseat for too long. One of my daughters had a breathing problem so it didn't help if she slept while sitting up. I let them swing when they wanted to and then we had playmats and a travel crib. If in doubt, ask her doctor!

I wouldn't put them in it just because I couldn't hold them. There are plenty other alternatives like bouncy seats or even just laying them on a blanket on the floor. But, they are great for naps and feedings since they are too little for highchairs at that age.

i limited it to zero. i think a swing is something like a pacifier or other detachment device.
