No, Nixon was not impeached. He resigned before he was impeached. In the history of the United States, only 2 Presidents (Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton) have been impeached. Both were acquitted. There were also one cabinet member (Secretary of War William Belknap - acquitted), one Senator (Tennessee Senator William Blount - charges dismissed), and 13 federal judges (including one U.S. Supreme Court Justice - Samuel Chase) that were impeached.

Impeachment is not the same as convicting someone of a crime. It is more like a Grand Jury indictment. It only says that there is enough evidence for the person to stand trial. At a federal level, impeachment happens in the U.S. House, and the trial happens in the U.S. Senate.

President Nixon was impeached, I'm not sure if the government was successful in getting him removed from office. That was during my elementary school years so my memory is a little fuzzy on whether he left his position as president. I think they tried to impeach Clinton but I'm not sure if the charges stuck.

Yes, both screwed up and both were impeached. The difference was that Nixon did the honorable thing and resigned, where as Clinton hung on like a rabid dog.

Nixon resigned when it looked like he was going to be impeached.

Clinton was impeached but was censured, not removed from office. That would have been a different hearing requiring a higher percentage of votes for removal which was not likely to happen.

Impeachment does not mean automatic removal from office.

Nixon resigned. He knew he could have fought all the charges save one. That one was the last article of impeachment. It was for income tax evasion. Clinton was brought before the senate on charges, but acquitted.

Nixon resigned but he surely would have been impeached if he didn't.
